A donation of $250,000 from Unison Bank has significantly enhanced campus life at the University of Jamestown, leading to the establishment of The Well Coffee Shop within the newly inaugurated Reuben and Clarice Liechty Center for Faith and Life. Opened in the fall of this year, The Well serves as more than just a coffee venue; it aims to foster community connections among students and faculty alike.
Located strategically between the historic Voorhees Chapel and the Badal Nafus Student Union, The Well is emerging as a central gathering place on campus. Brett Moser, vice president of development and alumni relations at the university, expressed gratitude for the bank’s support, stating, “It is a special place for the campus and community to enjoy. We are especially grateful to Unison Bank for their generosity which helped turn this vision into reality.”
The Well is housed in the Liechty Center, which also accommodates the Unruh School of Character in Leadership. This center features various facilities, including conference rooms, faculty offices, and collaborative study spaces. The coffee shop’s name reflects the university’s faith-based mission, symbolizing a site for refreshment, reflection, and spiritual growth. It serves as a modern interpretation of a “well,” where students and community members can gather for renewal.
The impact of Unison Bank’s investment extends beyond the coffee served. Kelly Rachel, president and CEO of Unison Bank, emphasized the importance of creating an environment that supports students’ overall well-being. “We were excited about creating a space where students feel cared for, energized and supported,” Rachel said. “When students have a place that nourishes both their minds and their spirits, they’re more equipped to dream bigger, work harder and build the futures God is calling them toward.”
Founded in Jamestown in 1965, Unison Bank has a longstanding commitment to educational and community initiatives. Rachel articulated the bank’s philosophy, stating, “We give back because helping others achieve their dreams is at the core of who we are.” She added, “The boldest change we hope to spark is a culture of intentionality where students are living with purpose, pursuing their callings with confidence and building a community that lifts each other up.”
As The Well opens its doors, it is quickly becoming a venue where students can pause, pray, and connect with each other, enhancing their college experience. The university believes this new hub will significantly contribute to student life and community engagement in the years to come.
