The construction of a new interchange at Pecue Lane and Interstate 10 (I-10) in Baton Rouge is progressing as planned, with an anticipated opening in the spring of 2026. This development is part of a comprehensive project initiated by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) in 2017. The primary objective is to widen Pecue Lane from two to four lanes, enhancing connectivity between major roadways and improving access to local facilities, including Woman’s Hospital.
Upon completion, the interchange will feature two lanes in each direction, servicing both north and southbound traffic. The project includes critical intersections with I-10 for eastbound and westbound traffic, along with the construction of a new bridge over Ward Creek.
According to a spokesperson from the DOTD, as of November, crews are actively engaged in the installation of traffic signals. This work is vital for ensuring safe and efficient traffic flow once the interchange becomes operational.
In addition to the interchange, the project has seen enhancements to surrounding roads. Notably, Rieger Road has been extended to meet Pecue Lane, creating a new intersection that recently opened to the public. This extension is expected to further alleviate congestion and improve access for residents and visitors in the area.
The completion of the Pecue Lane-I-10 interchange represents a significant investment in Baton Rouge’s infrastructure, aimed at supporting the growing needs of the community and enhancing transportation efficiency across the region.
