Born on February 25, 1949, in Kilgore, Cobb dedicated 24 years of his life to serving in the United States Air Force. His military career was distinguished by honor, resilience, and a deep sense of duty, reflecting the values he cherished throughout his life. After retiring from the Air Force, he remained an active member of his community, contributing significantly to organizations such as the D.A.V. (Disabled American Veterans) and the Legion Hall in Kilgore.
Cobb was known for his unwavering dedication to his family. He often spoke fondly of the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy into his life. His daughter, Tomasene Elliott, and her husband John, along with his son, David “Andy” Cobb, and his wife Stacie, remember him as a source of warmth and affection.

He also leaves behind a cherished group of great-grandchildren: Jax Barnett, Emma Hale, Mason Hale, Elija Coleman, Rowan Coleman, and Addlynn Herndon, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. His dog, “Trucker,” was a beloved companion, providing comfort and joy in his later years.
Preceding him in death were his father, Rueben T. Cobb; mother, Letha L. Lala; stepfather, Albert J. Hall; sister, Flora Gene Hall; brother, Raymond O. Cobbs, Sr.; and sister-in-law, Pearl Cobbs.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 6, 2026, at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore, Texas, beginning at 14:00. Family and friends will gather to honor Richard Dwayne Cobb, remembering not only his military service but also the love and joy he imparted to those around him throughout his life.
