The Freeborn County Fair Board has announced the lineup for the 2026 fair, set to feature a diverse array of musical performances from August 4 to August 8. The schedule includes three evenings dedicated to country music, one night of rock, and a special evening for Christian music enthusiasts, promising attendees an engaging experience.
Dillon Carmichael Kicks Off the Fair
Country music artist Dillon Carmichael will open the fair on August 4. Known for his powerful vocals and songwriting skills, Carmichael combines traditional country sounds with a modern twist. Raised in a farming community, he began playing guitar at 12 and later moved to Nashville, where he pursued his musical ambitions while working security at the Grand Ole Opry. His debut album, “Hell On An Angel,” released in 2018, received critical acclaim from major outlets, including Rolling Stone and The New York Times.
Carmichael’s recent work includes the 2021 album “Son of A,” co-produced with Jon Pardi, which generated two Top 25 singles. He has shared the stage with notable country artists and earned a spot as a 2024 New Face of Country Music at the Country Radio Seminar. His upcoming third album, “Keepin’ Country Alive,” marks a significant milestone in his career.
Lorrie Morgan’s Return to the Stage
On August 5, Lorrie Morgan will take the stage. A Nashville native and daughter of Country Music Hall of Fame member George Morgan, she made her Grand Ole Opry debut at age 13. Morgan’s career has been defined by numerous accolades, including a CMA award for her duet “Til a Tear Becomes a Rose.” Her first three albums achieved Platinum status, and she has collaborated with various music legends throughout her career.
Recently inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame alongside her late husband, Keith Whitley, Morgan is currently working on a new album with award-winning producer Richard Landis.
CAIN Brings Uplifting Christian Music
August 6 will feature the contemporary Christian group CAIN, which consists of siblings Madison Cain Johnson, Taylor Cain, and Logan Cain. Raised in a pastoral household in Alabama, the group has gained popularity over the past decade, headlining their own tours and collaborating with renowned artists such as Chris Tomlin and TobyMac.
Their hit singles “Rise Up (Lazarus)” and “Yes He Can” both reached No. 1 on the radio charts, and their viral song “I’m So Blessed” has amassed over 513.9 million views on social media. CAIN has garnered multiple awards, including a K-LOVE Fan Award, and continues to grow their musical influence.
Jefferson Starship’s Classic Rock Performance
The legendary rock band Jefferson Starship will perform on August 7. Known for their significant impact on the rock music scene during the 70s and 80s, the band has received three platinum and eight gold records. Founded by Paul Kantner, Jefferson Starship has delivered timeless rock hits and has toured extensively worldwide.
Their current lineup includes founding member David Freiberg, along with veteran musicians who have contributed to the band’s legacy. Their live performances continue to captivate audiences across generations.
Josh Turner Closes Out the Fair
On August 8, Josh Turner will conclude the fair with his signature baritone and beloved hits. Known for songs like “Long Black Train” and “Your Man,” Turner has achieved substantial commercial success, with over 6 billion career global streams. His debut album, released over two decades ago, was certified Platinum and remains a staple in country music.
Turner’s latest album, “This Country Music Thing,” debuted in the Top 10 on the Country Albums chart. Recognized with prestigious awards, including the Order of the Palmetto in South Carolina, Turner is also actively touring in support of his music.
Tickets for the 2026 Freeborn County Fair will go on sale at 09:00 on Monday. Attendees can purchase reserved or standing room tickets at the fair office or online. Office hours for ticket sales are Mondays and Wednesdays from 09:00 to 13:00.
