In a significant development for early childhood education, Lidya and Anteneh Abera have acquired Kiddie Academy® of Murphy, Texas, as of June 2025. The couple, both former electrical engineers and first-time entrepreneurs, aims to enhance the educational experience for local families while actively engaging with their community.
Commitment to Education and Community
Utilizing Kiddie Academy’s proprietary Life Essentials® curriculum, the Aberas plan to offer a high-quality early childhood education program that exceeds Texas state standards. This curriculum is designed to foster a nurturing and supportive environment, aligning with the couple’s vision as dedicated parents of three children.
“Our passion for education and family inspired us to own a Kiddie Academy franchise where children can thrive,” said Lidya Abera. “We understand the importance of a safe, nurturing environment, and we are committed to providing that for families in our community.”
Located at 605 E FM 544, the Academy is positioned in a peaceful neighborhood, providing a tranquil space for children to learn, play, and grow. The facility is licensed to serve 230 children and employs 20 educators, ensuring a supportive and well-staffed learning environment.
Engagement with Local Initiatives
The Aberas are keen to create meaningful connections within the community. They are implementing initiatives that include offering discounts to service members, first responders, teachers, and healthcare workers. Additionally, they plan to participate in local events, embracing the motto of Kiddie Academy: “Community Begins Here.”
“We’ve always wanted to start our own business, and it was important to us that it be family-focused and have a positive impact,” said Anteneh Abera. “Kiddie Academy of Murphy gives us the perfect opportunity to turn that vision into reality.”
The Academy features 10 spacious classrooms and a large playground area designed to promote physical activity and social interaction among children. This environment reflects the Aberas’ commitment to creating a home-away-from-home experience for the children in their care.
