Rob Dyrdek has publicly addressed the cancellation of his long-running MTV series, Ridiculousness, which aired for an impressive 46 seasons. While the show will continue to broadcast new episodes until 2026, no further episodes will be produced following the announcement. Reports indicate that Dyrdek earned at least $32.5 million annually from the network, marking a significant period in his career.
In a heartfelt video message shared with fans on social media, the 51-year-old entertainer expressed his gratitude for the support he has received over the years. “I just want to say thank you to every single person who ever watched any of my shows. 19 years, four different shows, 2034 episodes. I’m just so grateful. I’m grateful to MTV,” he stated.
Dyrdek reflected on his personal evolution during the course of the show, emphasizing that the timing of its cancellation felt “divine.” He noted that he had outgrown aspects of his previous persona, which included wearing a baseball cap and performing on stage. Instead, he highlighted his achievements in maximizing efficiency during filming. “As time went by, I was able to be more efficient in filming the show, sometimes doing up to 12 episodes a day,” he explained.
This drive for efficiency stemmed from Dyrdek’s commitment to mastering his time management. He articulated how this focus not only improved the show’s production but also enhanced his overall quality of life. “I know that the reason I live such an amazing life and such a high-quality existence is because I account for all my time,” he remarked.
Dyrdek is looking forward to new ventures and projects following the conclusion of Ridiculousness. He stated, “I created this so that everybody could easily account for their time, optimize their time, and thus optimize their quality of life.”
The impact of Ridiculousness on the landscape of reality television is undeniable, and Dyrdek’s contributions to the genre will remain significant as he embarks on his next endeavors.
