The Salvation Army Launches Annual Red Kettle Campaign in Meridian

The Salvation Army officially commenced its annual Red Kettle Campaign on November 14, 2025, in Meridian, Mississippi, marking the start of the holiday fundraising season. The event took place at the Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience, where community members and local officials gathered to support the organization’s largest fundraising initiative.

During the ceremony, Meridian Mayor Percy Bland made one of the first donations to the campaign, highlighting the importance of community involvement in supporting those in need. The iconic red kettles will be placed outside grocery stores and retailers throughout the season, serving as a familiar sight for shoppers. Funds collected through this campaign are essential for financing various programs and assistance initiatives that The Salvation Army provides throughout the year.

Christina Mogollion, the city’s Miss Hospitality, shared her positive memories of contributing to the kettles as a child. She emphasized the lasting impact of The Salvation Army’s work beyond the holiday season. “While many people recognize The Salvation Army at Christmas time, the impact it makes reaches far beyond the holidays. The Salvation Army works hard all year to support our community through its food pantry, its clothing distribution, and other vital services throughout our community,” she stated.

In addition to the Red Kettle Campaign, Mogollion urged residents to consider participating in the Angel Tree program, which provides Christmas gifts to children in need. This initiative allows community members to adopt an angel, ensuring that local children receive presents during the festive season.

At the kickoff event, Sgt. Daniel Nolan, the commanding officer of The Salvation Army Meridian, encouraged attendees to continue the momentum of giving. “I want to challenge everyone here to follow our lead. As we give our first gift and our first ring, I want to remind you that you’re part of this,” he said. He urged residents to actively participate in the campaign and help ring in the season of generosity.

The Red Kettle Campaign not only raises funds but also fosters community spirit and compassion. It offers a way for individuals to come together and support their neighbors during a time when many face financial hardships.
