Upcoming Premieres: Emilia Clarke’s ‘Ponies’ and More in 2024

Peacock has confirmed that the highly anticipated espionage thriller series “Ponies,” featuring Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson, will premiere on January 15, 2024. Set in Moscow in 1977, the show revolves around two secretaries at the American Embassy whose husbands are murdered under mysterious circumstances. As they navigate their grief, they transform into CIA operatives, determined to uncover a vast Cold War conspiracy and the truth behind their husbands’ deaths. The series is helmed by David Iserson, known for his work on “Mr. Robot” and “New Girl.”

In a different vein, the family board game “Shark Bite,” originally released in 2017, is making its way to television as a game show. Producers Cleve Keller and Dave Noll are collaborating with Goliath and Perfect Game to bring the series to life. Contestants will engage with five 20-foot animatronic sharks, each sporting its own personality, as they compete for a chance to win $100,000. However, a wrong answer could lead them into the jaws of the shark, adding an exciting twist to the gameplay.

Production is currently in progress for the fourth season of “Tulsa King.” Despite the filming commencing, there is no formal showrunner in place. Scott Stone, the executive in charge of production from 101 Studios, is acting as the de facto showrunner. The original showrunner, Terence Winter, is leading the writers’ room in Los Angeles but is not involved in the Atlanta set. This situation follows the dismissal and replacement of over two dozen crew members just days before shooting began.

On the creative front, filmmaker Taika Waititi has secured a new first-look deal with 20th Television, FX Productions, and Hulu. This partnership will allow him to develop and direct original series for both 20th Television and FX. Among the projects under this deal is “Last Look,” a half-hour comedy set within the luxury fashion industry that explores the lives of the hardworking individuals behind the scenes and the extravagant designers they serve. Jason Kim, a writer-producer from “Barry,” is also involved in the project.

In upcoming animated content, Disney has unveiled a new trailer for the third season of “Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures.” All episodes of this season will be released on December 8, 2023, on Disney+ and will be made available daily on Disney Junior. This season will see the young Jedi face challenges from Rek Minuu, a tricky droidsmith, while also making new friends, including a local shop owner known for her droid-fixing skills and a trio of new droid companions: Beepers, Dozer, and Gigi.

With these exciting developments in television, audiences can look forward to a diverse lineup of new series and shows starting in early 2024.
