Chelmsford High School has recognized the accomplishments of ten recent graduates and one current senior who have successfully earned their Advanced Placement (AP) Capstone Diplomas. This prestigious program equips students with critical skills in research, collaboration, and presentation, which are essential for both academic and career success.
To achieve the AP Capstone Diploma, students must score a minimum of 3 on the AP Seminar, AP Research, and four additional AP Exams of their choice. The graduates from Chelmsford High School who received this honor include: Margot Betton, Joseph Evans, Julia Fields, Jessica Jerusal, Shalini Kirubakara, Sahana Macherla, Anne Magny, Anjana Muraleedaran, Jocelyn Pica, Sophia Roy, and Jennifer Yu.
Stephanie Quinn, the K-12 social sciences department coordinator for Chelmsford Public Schools, praised the students for their achievements. “We are incredibly proud of the students who participated in the AP Capstone Diploma program,” Quinn stated. “With the help of our dedicated teachers, these students were able to explore their passions through scholarly research in an impactful, multi-year program that will serve them well long after high school.”
The 2024-25 school year saw participation from over 160,000 students across more than 3,500 schools worldwide in the AP Capstone program. Approximately 27,650 students earned the AP Capstone Diploma, while 12,430 students achieved the AP Seminar and Research Certificate.
Bianca Peart, the global director of the AP Capstone Diploma program, emphasized the program’s importance in fostering curiosity among students. “Students are not only building essential skills for college and career success but they’re also discovering how their voices and ideas can make an impact,” Peart said.
Trevor Packer, head of the Advanced Placement Program, extended congratulations to all students who earned AP Capstone Diplomas and AP Seminar and Research Certificates during the school year. “Their hard work has helped them build foundational skills in project management, presentation, collaboration, and research that will contribute to their success in college and in their professional careers,” he noted.
The achievements of these students highlight the value of the AP Capstone program in nurturing the next generation of leaders and innovators. As they embark on their higher education journeys, these graduates carry with them the skills and experiences that will aid them in their future endeavors.
