Robert J. Limbach, a respected educator and beloved community member in Blair, Nebraska, passed away at the age of 78 on February 27, 2026, at his home. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Prior to the service, a visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., which will include a Vigil service at 7:00 P.M. at Campbell Aman Funeral Home.
Born on July 15, 1947, in West Point, Nebraska, Robert was the son of Frank and Mildred (Sebek) Limbach. He grew up in Howells and graduated from Howells High School in 1965. Following his high school education, he attended Wayne State College, where he earned a degree in history and vocational education.
On June 20, 1970, Robert married Linda Dostal at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Howells. The couple established their home in Blair, where they raised their family and forged lasting friendships. Beginning in 1970, he dedicated his career to teaching at Blair High School, where he played a pivotal role in developing the drafting program within the vocational department. His commitment to education, combined with his humor and respect for his students, left an enduring impact on both students and colleagues.
Beyond his teaching responsibilities, Robert was actively involved in the community. He contributed his time to the Blair Little League, St. Francis Borgia Church, and the Blair Community Schools. His interests included woodworking, stamp collecting, reading, hunting, and fishing. An avid sports fan, he regularly attended Creghton basketball and Notre Dame football games. Most importantly, he took great pride in supporting his grandchildren’s various activities.
“Papa Bob” cherished his family above all else, consistently finding joy in cheering for his grandchildren. Family gatherings and vacations were among his most treasured memories, and he was grateful for the many occasions spent with loved ones.
Robert is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter Lisa (Jeremy) Wolff; son Jason (Brooke) Limbach; grandchildren Hannah, Olivia, Brianna, Sydney, Jenae, and Jackson; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mildred, and his in-laws, Herman and Arlene (Dirkschneider) Dostal.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family, which will allocate the funds to causes and programs that held special significance to Robert.
