Summer Fridays Launches New Lip Stains and Liners Just in Time for Valentine’s Day

Summer Fridays has expanded its popular lip care line with the introduction of two new products: the SoftLine Lip Liner and the Flushed Lip Stain. Released just before Valentine’s Day 2024, these products aim to enhance the brand’s already successful lip offerings, particularly the well-received Lip Butter Balm.

The SoftLine Lip Liner comes in eight shades, including Sugar, Rosé, Latte, Pecan, Toffee, Cinnamon, Brownie, and Espresso. In contrast, the Flushed Lip Stain is available in six colors: Slipper, Rosette, Maple, Plum, Almond, and Mocha. The color range features warm tones and rosy pinks, though some users have noted that options may be limited for deeper skin tones.

Both products boast a long-wear formula designed for comfort and hydration. The lip stains incorporate nourishing aloe vera gel, while the liners include carnauba and candelilla wax, alongside jojoba and coconut oils for a smooth application. A felt-tip applicator is provided for the stains, promising a seamless finish.

First Impressions from Beauty Editors

To gauge the performance of these new offerings, several beauty editors tested the products and provided their candid reviews.

Alexis Bennett Parker, commerce content lead, praised the Espresso liner for its true brown shade that complements her skin tone. She noted that it glides on effortlessly, even during harsh winter conditions, and lasts for hours without needing frequent touch-ups, stating, “I can sip on my matcha and not worry about reapplying nonstop.”

Katie Berohn, a beauty editor, expressed a desire for a lip stain that offers tattoo-like longevity. While she found that the Flushed Lip Stain performed well, particularly the darker shades which lasted over 12 hours, she felt the lip liner did not match its staying power. “I would probably wear them separately in the future,” she remarked, also suggesting an expansion of the color range.

Nerisha Penrose, beauty commerce editor, shared her enthusiasm for the lip stain trend. She selected the Mocha shade, a unique cool brown, and achieved a blended look with the Rosette stain. Although she appreciated the precision of the formula, she felt the Mocha could benefit from added depth, which she achieved by layering with the Brownie liner.

Emma Aerin Becker, an associate beauty e-commerce writer, highlighted the stain’s pencil-like tip, which allows for precise outlining. She opted for the Almond shade to create a subtle contour before filling in with Slipper, a bright pink hue. Her combination resulted in a fresh look, though she found it not as durable as other stains she has tried.

Tasha Nicole Smith, a beauty assistant, noted her late arrival to the lip stain trend but appreciated the convenience it offers. She tested the Mocha stain, finding it satisfactory for her workday, and enjoyed the natural contour provided by the Espresso liner. Although she wished for longer-lasting effects from the liner, she recognized the versatility of pairing it with various lip products.

Ultimately, the feedback from the testing phase emphasizes both the strengths and areas for improvement in Summer Fridays’ new lip products. As the brand continues to expand its offerings, consumers will be eager to see how these updates align with their beauty routines.
