Anderson Dominates Catawba with 97-74 Victory in Conference Clash

The Anderson University men’s basketball team showcased its dominance by defeating Catawba College 97-74 in a South Atlantic Conference game held on Wednesday night at the Abney Center in Anderson, South Carolina. The Trojans improved their impressive record to 15-0, maintaining their undefeated status this season.

Anderson, currently ranked seventh in Division II, demonstrated their offensive prowess with a shooting percentage of 52.3%. The team excelled from beyond the arc, hitting 11 of 19 three-point attempts, which significantly contributed to their commanding lead throughout the match. This victory marks the Trojans’ ninth consecutive win in conference play, solidifying their position at the top of the standings with a 9-0 record.

Despite entering the game with a six-game winning streak, Catawba struggled to keep pace with Anderson’s high-energy offense. The Indians, now 11-4 overall and 6-3 in the South Atlantic Conference, faced challenges in both shooting consistency and turnovers. They finished the game with an 18-10 disadvantage in turnovers, which proved critical in the outcome.

Jordan Simpson led Catawba with 18 points, shooting 4-for-12 from three-point range. Teammate Ibra Athie contributed 16 points, while the Daniel twins, Carson and Chase Daniel, each added 11 points. As a team, Catawba struggled from long-range shooting, completing only 5 of 19 attempts and finishing the game with a field goal percentage of 43.4%.

The Trojans’ offensive highlights included a stellar performance from Rashawn Inglemon, who scored 21 points, and Kadyn Dawkins, who contributed 20 points. The support from the 347 fans in attendance also fueled the team’s energy throughout the competition.
