Tammy Scott Gill, a cherished educator and community member, passed away peacefully at the age of 55 on November 13, 2025, in Roxie. Born on February 7, 1970, at Natchez Regional Hospital in Natchez, her life was marked by a commitment to education and a deep faith that inspired those around her.
After graduating from Franklin County High School, Tammy pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in education at Valdosta State University. She dedicated many years as a teacher at Apostolic Christian Academy in Tennessee, where she was known for her passion for teaching and her ability to connect with students.
Tammy’s unwavering faith was integral to her identity. As a dedicated member of the First Apostolic Church in Maryville, Tennessee, she provided guidance and support to her family and friends. Her warm smile and generous spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Larry Ogle, and her loving parents, Wayne and Jo Lynn Scott. Tammy was a proud mother to her children: Alex (Anna) Gill, Samantha (Brandon) Johnson, Miranda (Anthony) Cotten, and Tyler (Elizabeth) Gill. Additionally, she embraced her role as a stepmother to Denny (Ericka) Johnson and Heath (Renee) Johnson. Her legacy continues through her numerous grandchildren: Bailynn, Bentley, Knox, Nolan, Colton, Cayson, Ella, Emma, Brayden, Will, Katie, Keeley, Lex, Ericka, Gab, and Ivy Grace, as well as a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services Planned at Greendale Cemetery
Funeral services for Tammy will be handled by Laird Funeral Home in Natchez. Graveside services and interment are scheduled for November 18, 2025, at 13:30 local time at Greendale Cemetery in Roxie. The service will be officiated by Rev. Curtis Thornton. Family members and friends will honor Tammy as pallbearers include her children and grandchildren: Alex Gill, Colton Gill, Brandon Johnson, Knox Johnson, Anthony Cotten, and Bentley Cotten. Honorary pallbearers will be Nolan Johnson and Cayson Gill.
