Ric Flair has publicly apologized for his absence during the AEW Blood and Guts event on November 17, 2025. The 76-year-old wrestling legend had traveled to Greensboro, North Carolina, to make a scheduled appearance but ultimately left before the live broadcast began. Although Flair was present to greet fans prior to the event, he did not participate in the show itself due to health concerns.
According to reports from wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer, Flair experienced significant discomfort from a rotator cuff injury, which prompted his early departure. In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Flair expressed regret over disappointing fans and confirmed his eagerness to return to AEW once he has recovered.
“I want to apologize to everyone for having to leave the @AEW show early last Wednesday due to my rotator cuff injury,” Flair tweeted. He went on to thank Tony Khan, AEW’s president, for the opportunity to be part of the event and mentioned how enjoyable it was to reconnect with fellow wrestling talents, including Ricky Steamboat. Flair concluded by expressing his hope to be invited back once he is healed.
Flair’s Legacy and Continuing Role with AEW
Both Flair and Steamboat were scheduled to appear during the Dynamite episode, which was highly anticipated given their storied history in professional wrestling, particularly in Greensboro. While Steamboat was able to appear and participate in a segment that featured an attack by FTR, Flair’s absence was notable.
Despite his limited appearances, Flair remains under contract with AEW. He was initially brought into the promotion to support Sting during his retirement run and to promote his energy drink, Woooo! Energy. Although this sponsorship has concluded, Flair’s influence in the wrestling world continues to be significant.
In May 2025, Flair made a notable appearance at another AEW event, where he paid tribute to his late friend, Steve “Mongo” McMichael. As one of the most iconic figures in wrestling history, Flair’s appearances are often met with enthusiasm from fans, highlighting his lasting legacy in the sport.
Following his recent injury, fans will undoubtedly hope for a swift recovery so that they can see Flair back in action in the near future.
