Beloved Idell Lude Passes Away at 86; Community Mourns Loss

URGENT UPDATE: The community of Yorktown, Texas is mourning the loss of beloved resident Idell (Dubose) Lude, who passed away on January 1, 2026, at the age of 86. Known for her warmth and dedication to family, Idell’s legacy is felt deeply as friends and loved ones gather to remember her life.

Idell was born on March 31, 1939, to George and Lucy Dubose. After graduating from Yorktown High School, she attended Victoria Beauty College and began her career at Modern Beauty Shop in Yorktown. She married David William Lude on November 11, 1961, at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Weesatche, Texas.

Idell and David built a loving family in Yorktown, welcoming two sons, Jeffery David and Garrett Wayne Lude. Idell devoted herself to being a stay-at-home mom, showcasing her skills in sewing, cooking, and gardening. Her beautiful yard became a hallmark of her dedication to family life. Idell also spent 50 years caring for her son Jeffery, who had special needs, embodying selflessness and unwavering love.

“She never once complained. She most definitely earned her wings in heaven with our Lord and Savior,” her family expressed.

Idell’s passing follows the loss of her husband David, her son Jeffery, and her parents, George and Lucy Dubose. She leaves behind her son Garrett, his wife Dianne, and granddaughter Sarah, who resides in California. The family has arranged for a visitation on January 6, 2026, from 9-10 AM, with the funeral service beginning at 10 AM at Massey Funeral Home in Yorktown. Interment will follow at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Cemetery.
