URGENT UPDATE: A candlelight vigil for fallen Delaware State Police trooper Cpl. Matthew “Ty” Snook is set to take place on Monday, January 1, 2024, at 7 p.m. The event will be held at the Police Athletic League (PAL) Center, located at 7529 Lancaster Pike in Hockessin. Community members are urged to RSVP in advance to assist organizers in preparing for attendees.
This vigil comes just days after the tragic death of Cpl. Snook, who was fatally shot by Rahman Rose at the DMV in Minquadale on Tuesday, December 26, 2023. In a swift response, a New Castle County officer shot and killed Rose, who was 44 years old. Cpl. Snook leaves behind a grieving family, including his wife and a one-year-old daughter.
In addition to the vigil, a celebration of life for Cpl. Snook will be held at the University of Delaware’s Bob Carpenter Center on Monday, January 5, 2024, as the community comes together to honor his legacy and sacrifice.
