Community Gathers for “Harvest of Love” Talent Show on Nov. 22

URGENT UPDATE: The annual Community Talent Show, “Harvest of Love,” is set to take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2023, at the St. Anna School gymnasium, located at 213 Lancaster St., Leominster, MA. This exciting event, hosted by Our Lady of the Lake Parish, promises to unite the community through art, faith, and fun while raising critical funds for both the parish and the youth group’s upcoming Catholic Youth in Action service trip to Indiana next July.

As excitement builds for the show, Father Kenneth Cardinale, pastor of Our Lady of the Lake Parish, emphasizes the event’s dual purpose. “This talent show not only entertains but also strengthens community bonds,” he stated. The evening will feature an array of performances, including music, dance, comedy, poetry, gymnastics, storytelling, and novelty acts, showcasing the talents of parishioners and friends of all ages.

Admission prices are designed to be affordable: $10 for adults and teens, $5 for children ages 5-12, and free entry for children under 5, with a maximum family admission fee of $30. A 50/50 raffle will also be held, offering tickets at 1 for $3, 3 for $5, or 10 for $10. Tickets for both admission and the raffle can be purchased in advance at the parish office, located at 1400 Main St., or at the door on the night of the show.

The community’s creative energy extends beyond the performances. Volunteers have dedicated weeks to preparing, organizing, and baking for the event, all part of a collaborative effort described by parish leaders as “co-creating with God” to spread joy throughout the community.

While the talent show is set to be a night of fun and entertainment, Father Cardinale urges attendees to recognize the deeper significance. “Celebrating creativity and the unique gifts of the community is a way of honoring God,” he explained. “Let us all focus on gratitude and the belief that artistic expression can bring people closer to God and to one another.”

Baked goods, cold and hot cider, and water will be available for purchase before the show and during intermission, enhancing the evening’s festive atmosphere.
