URGENT UPDATE: Five individuals have been arrested in Fairbanks, Alaska, following a significant investigation into an illegal gambling operation. The Fairbanks Police Department (FPD) confirmed the arrests late Friday night, revealing a major crackdown on unlicensed gambling activities.
Officers raided two locations—510 Old Steese Highway and 1521 Stacia Street—and seized over $55,000 in gambling equipment, including casino-style “fish table” machines and “Fire Kirin” games. Additionally, authorities confiscated $45,053 in cash, along with seven cell phones, six computers, and one vehicle.
The investigation uncovered that both locations operated as a coordinated illegal gambling enterprise. Evidence included matching financial logs and daily win/loss spreadsheets, demonstrating a well-organized operation. FPD stated, “Both locations featured cash-based payouts and signage outlining house rules, further confirming their status as unlicensed establishments.”
The arrested individuals include Pilisega Filivaa Jr., David Irae Lefau, and Montgomery Finau Kuresa Jr. from Fairbanks, along with Marley Etisone Liulama and Richard Taupea Fola from Kent, Washington. All five face multiple charges, including promoting gambling and possession of gambling devices.
This alarming development raises significant concerns about the rise of illegal gambling in the area, affecting community safety and law enforcement resources. The FPD emphasized the seriousness of the operation and the coordinated effort to dismantle such activities.
Authorities are urging the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to gambling. As investigations continue, more details may emerge regarding the extent of these illegal operations in Fairbanks.
