Free Indoor Playground for Preschoolers Opens Dec. 2 in Kingston

URGENT UPDATE: The highly anticipated free indoor playground program for preschoolers is set to return to the Andy Murphy Neighborhood Center in Kingston, N.Y., on December 2, 2025. This exciting initiative, offered by the Parks and Recreation Department, will provide a warm and safe environment for young children to play and socialize during the winter months.

Beginning on Tuesday, December 2, the indoor play area will be open every Tuesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Parents and guardians are required to accompany their children throughout the duration of their visit. This program is designed specifically for toddlers and pre-kindergarten children, ensuring that all little ones have access to a fun and engaging space.

“This popular program serves as an alternative option for little ones to stay warm while they play and socialize during the colder months,” stated Lynsey Timbrouck, the city’s Parks and Recreation director. The program is completely free, and no prior registration is necessary, making it easily accessible for families.

Parents should note that the program will be canceled if the Kingston City School District announces a two-hour delay or closure due to inclement weather. Additionally, a holiday break will occur from December 26, 2025, through January 6, 2026. After the break, the program will continue weekly until March 27, 2026.

This indoor playground initiative is more than just a fun outing; it serves as an essential resource for families seeking safe, warm activities for their children during the colder months. Don’t miss out on this opportunity for your little ones to engage in play and build friendships!
