URGENT UPDATE: Lauderdale County residents may be sitting on unclaimed funds, and a crucial event is set to help them find out more. On November 7, 2025, from 2-6 p.m., the Lauderdale County Government Complex will open its doors for an exclusive unclaimed property event in partnership with State Treasurer David McRae’s office.
This is a unique opportunity for local residents to connect directly with county and state officials to discover if they have any unclaimed money waiting for them. The funds, which often originate from banks or businesses unable to locate their rightful owners, are turned over to the State Treasury after five years.
Since taking office in 2020, Treasurer McRae has successfully returned over $150 million to residents across the state. “We are committed to helping residents reclaim their lost funds,” McRae stated. This event aims to bridge the gap between residents and the resources available for reclaiming their money.
Residents are encouraged to drop by the event for one-on-one discussions about the claims process and to learn what documentation is required. This initiative not only helps individuals recover their finances but also fosters community engagement.
For those unable to attend, additional resources are available online. Visit treasury.ms.gov to search for unclaimed money in your name and find comprehensive information regarding the claims process. A detailed list of unclaimed funds specific to Lauderdale County can also be accessed HERE.
Don’t miss this chance to potentially reclaim what is rightfully yours! Spread the word and share this information with friends and family who may benefit from this event. Time is of the essence—mark your calendars for November 7 and take action to secure your financial future!
