Neighborhood Nip Foundation Distributes 5,000 Turkeys in LA

BREAKING: The Neighborhood Nip Foundation launched its inaugural turkey drive in South Los Angeles today, giving away an impressive 5,000 Thanksgiving turkeys to local families. The event took place at the foundation’s newly activated site on Slauson Avenue, the historic location of the late Nipsey Hussle’s original Marathon Clothing store.

This impactful event marks the first public activation of the site since it was transformed into a community-focused hub. Samiel Asghedom, Hussle’s brother, expressed the significance of the location, stating, “This is where my brother first sold his mixtape and opened businesses. It’s vital to be able to activate from here.”

The turkey giveaway, held Tuesday afternoon, was organized in partnership with the Think Watts Foundation. Families lined up, eager to receive their holiday meals, underscoring the urgent need for community support this season. Attendee Charles Wright shared his appreciation, saying, “Everything is wonderful.”

Asghedom emphasized the foundation’s commitment to year-round community assistance, stating, “Any time we can help is the plan.” This event not only provides immediate relief but also sets the stage for future initiatives aimed at supporting youth and families in the area.

The renovated site aims to function as a community center, offering academic support and music programs for students ranging from elementary to high school. This initiative is a tribute to Hussle’s legacy, who was tragically killed outside his store on March 31, 2019. He was just 33 years old and left behind two children, making this community support all the more poignant.

The Neighborhood Nip Foundation is dedicated to continuing Hussle’s mission of uplifting the South Los Angeles community. As the foundation looks toward the future, residents can expect more events aimed at fostering a supportive environment for local youth and families.

Stay tuned for further updates on community initiatives and how you can get involved to help those in need this holiday season.
