Riot Games Unveils Riftbound: Spiritforged Release Plans Now

UPDATE: Riot Games has just announced major details for the highly anticipated expansion, Riftbound: Spiritforged, set to launch in English on February 13, 2026. This expansion follows its debut in China on December 12, 2025, and brings an exciting lineup of new Champion Legends and game mechanics that players won’t want to miss.

The upcoming set will introduce 12 Champion Legends, including fan favorites like Rek’Sai, Draven, and Irelia. Players can expect innovative gameplay with the introduction of three new mechanics: Equipment, Gold, and Repeat. Equipment cards can be attached to units, staying in play even if the unit is defeated. Gold tokens tied to champions such as Draven and Renata Glasc will provide players with flexible power generation, while Repeat spells allow for amplified effects by paying the card’s cost a second time.

The design of Riftbound: Spiritforged blends steelwork themes with the mystical elements of Ionia’s Spirit Blossom universe, enriching both card design and champion identities. Additionally, the expansion enhances collectability with Spirit Blossom-themed alternative art, featuring 30 Overnumbered cards and 12 Champion Units contributing to the Overnumbered series.

At PAX Unplugged, Riot revealed more thrilling previews, including Signature variants for select Overnumbered cards and new cross-set synergies between Spiritforged and the previous set, Origins. Game director Dave Guskin stated, “We learned a tremendous amount from how players engaged with Origins. Spiritforged builds on that foundation with new Champion Legends, new mechanics, and even greater collectability. We can’t wait to see what players create next.”

In a surge of excitement, Riot also confirmed the next three Riftbound sets scheduled for 2026: Unleashed in May, followed by Vendettas in Q3, and Radiance later in the year. Unleashed will introduce new Champion Legends such as Vi, Rengar, and Master Yi, while Vendettas will explore long-running rivalries among champions including Akali, Mel, and Ambessa.

Competitive players should mark their calendars for the first English Regional Qualifier in Houston, set for December 5–7, followed by events in Bologna, Italy from February 20–22 and Las Vegas from February 27–March 1. Riot plans to host 12 Regional Qualifiers throughout 2026, with additional information to be announced soon.

This announcement is generating buzz across the community, as gamers eagerly await the new features and opportunities to engage with the beloved trading card game. With the release dates rapidly approaching, players are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates and prepare for the exciting challenges ahead.
