Three Dead in Fayette County Crash; Five Hospitalized After Collision

UPDATE: A devastating crash in Fayette County has left three people dead and five others hospitalized following a tragic three-vehicle collision on Monday night. The incident unfolded around 5:30 p.m. on Route 40 near Dark Hollow Road in Henry Clay Township.

According to state police, a tractor-trailer traveling east entered the westbound lanes, colliding head-on with a Ford pickup truck. The impact was catastrophic, leading the pickup truck to subsequently crash into a Chevrolet express van, resulting in multiple fatalities.

Emergency responders pronounced the drivers of the tractor-trailer and Ford pickup truck, along with a front seat passenger of the van, dead at the scene. The identities of the victims have not yet been released as authorities are working to notify next of kin.

Five occupants of the van, including its driver, were rushed to local hospitals for evaluation and treatment. Their conditions have not been disclosed. The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing, with the Trooper B Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Specialists and the Forensic Services Unit assisting in determining the cause of the crash.

Fayette County Coroner Bob Baker confirmed that the coroner’s office has been called in to help identify the victims, citing the severity of the accident.
