Urgent: Idaho Parents Charged After Baby Found Dead in Filthy Trailer

URGENT UPDATE: Shocking details have emerged as Nampa police confirm the tragic death of a 12-day-old infant found in a filthy trailer filled with animal feces and cigarette debris. Authorities have charged the parents, Brian Lemke, 31, and Allysen Armenta, 28, following the discovery on December 16, 2023, in the 300 block of Lone Star Road.

Initial reports indicated the couple attempted to blame the baby’s death on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS); however, investigators concluded the child suffocated. Officers revealed that instead of calling for help, Lemke and Armenta exchanged text messages after the infant’s death. “What did I do? I’m sorry. I don’t know what happened, but it’s my fault. Are they saying SIDS?” Lemke texted Armenta.

Police arrived at approximately 3:32 a.m. after Lemke finally called 911. Upon entering the home, officers found the living conditions appalling, with trash, food, dirt, and animal excrement scattered throughout. The baby was reportedly moved from a different location prior to police arrival.

After further investigation, Armenta was discovered hiding in a camp trailer in the backyard and was taken into custody on an unrelated warrant. Both parents, who have a history of child welfare issues—including previous convictions for child endangerment—now face serious charges. They are charged with felony injury to a child, hiding evidence, and obstructing justice.

The couple has previously had other children removed from their care due to hazardous living conditions, with cases dating back to 2019. Idaho Representative Dori Healey commented on the situation, stating, “Situations like this raise serious and necessary questions about how our child welfare systems function and where improvements may be needed.”

As the investigation continues, both Lemke and Armenta are scheduled to appear in court next month for preliminary hearings. This heart-wrenching case raises urgent questions about child safety and welfare interventions in Idaho.

Developments are ongoing, and community members are left reeling from this tragedy. The authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
