UPDATE: Major lane closures are set to disrupt traffic on U.S. 422 next week as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) continues crucial roadway and bridge reconstruction. Starting Monday, November 17, 2023, and running through Friday, November 21, 2023, motorists should prepare for significant delays.
From 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., westbound lanes on U.S. 422 will be closed between the Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) and Armand Hammer Boulevard interchanges. Simultaneously, eastbound lanes will be restricted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the same stretch for essential reconstruction work.
Additionally, travelers should be aware that Sanatoga Road remains closed and detoured between Linfield Road and High Street until December 1 for the demolition of the westbound side of the bridge over U.S. 422. Motorists are advised to reroute via High Street, Evergreen Road, and Linfield Road to avoid increased congestion.
As part of an extensive $83.6 million initiative, this project aims to enhance approximately 2.1 miles of the expressway and replace bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road in Lower Pottsgrove Township.
Authorities stress that drivers should allow extra time for their journeys as backups and delays are anticipated due to the ongoing construction. These lane closures are weather-dependent, so motorists are encouraged to stay updated on conditions.
With these critical updates, it’s essential for everyone traveling in the area to plan ahead. Share this information to keep others informed about the upcoming disruptions on U.S. 422. Stay safe and drive cautiously through work zones!
