A new antique shop, Polished Porch Antique & Boutique Mall, is preparing to open its doors in St. Joseph, Missouri, with a focus on collaboration among local businesses. The shop is scheduled to officially launch on March 21, 2024, following a soft opening on March 4, 2024. Owners Erika Frieden and Ashton Burton, who are cousins, are enthusiastic about their venture. They emphasize that the boutique will offer an array of items, including furniture, handmade crafts, jams, and jewelry. This unique model is designed to highlight the talents of multiple local businesses, with vendors occupying two upstairs areas and a downstairs room within the shop.
“What sets us apart from a traditional antique shop is our variety of items and the different experiences our vendors bring,” Frieden explained. “Some have been in this business for over 20 years, while others are just starting out. It’s impressive to see them communicate and support one another as they grow.”
Frieden and Burton sought a space large enough to accommodate various small businesses under one roof. They believe this will simplify the shopping experience for customers, particularly during busy seasons like the holidays. “When you are Christmas shopping, it can be a hassle to drive from one store to another. We want to provide a one-stop shop where people can find many options in one place, which fosters a strong community spirit,” Burton noted.
To commemorate the opening day, Polished Porch Antique & Boutique Mall plans to celebrate with food trucks and pop-up vendors, creating an inviting atmosphere for shoppers and families.
