The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) has announced the election of Scott Moskowitz, a representative from Qcells, as the new chair of its Board of Directors. This decision was made during a special election held to fill the position previously held by Darren Van’t Hof, who has taken on the role of interim president and CEO. Moskowitz’s election signals SEIA’s ongoing commitment to promoting American-made solar and storage systems as leading sources of renewable energy.
Moskowitz, who has extensive experience in the solar manufacturing sector, will lead a newly elected board that reflects the diverse interests of the U.S. solar and storage industry. Alongside him, Dr. Ingmar Ritzenhofen, the chief commercial officer of RWE Clean Energy, has been elected as vice chair. His background in large-scale project development and grid integration is expected to bring valuable insights as the industry navigates significant changes.
In his remarks following the election, interim president and CEO Darren Van’t Hof emphasized the importance of strong leadership during this pivotal time for the solar and storage sector. “As the solar and storage industry enters an important year of growth and transition in 2026, from policy uncertainty to an evolving regulatory landscape, SEIA’s success depends on strong, experienced leadership,” he stated. He congratulated Moskowitz, Ritzenhofen, and all newly elected board members, highlighting their collective role in shaping America’s energy future.
Moskowitz expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve at such a critical juncture. “SEIA has an important role to play in advancing durable, bipartisan policy that accelerates deployment, strengthens U.S. manufacturing, and lowers electricity costs,” he stated. He looks forward to collaborating with the board, SEIA staff, and policymakers to achieve these objectives.
In addition to the leadership changes, SEIA’s Board of Directors approved the inclusion of three elected at-large members and a new affiliate representative. The affiliations will further strengthen SEIA’s outreach and engagement across various sectors.
The elected at-large members include:
– Yann Brandt from FTC Solar
