Residents and visitors in The Woodlands will have a variety of events to choose from this weekend as well as on Veterans Day. From live music performances to a children’s festival, the area offers multiple opportunities to celebrate and engage with the community from November 7 to November 11, 2023.
Live Music and Community Gatherings
The Blue Lion Pub will feature live music performances this weekend, kicking off with Rapture on November 7, followed by Radio Frequency on November 8. Both shows start at 20:00 and are free to attend. The pub is located at 8000 McBeth Way, Ste. 100, and more information can be found on their website at www.blueliontexas.com.
Similarly, the Como Social Club will host performances by Javier Gonzalez on November 7 and the duo of Luke Whitney and Veronica Rosales on November 8. These events also start at 21:00 and have no admission fee, offering a vibrant atmosphere for music lovers at 2 Waterway Square Place. Visit www.comosocialclub.com for details.
Another community highlight is the Pumpkin Smash, taking place on November 8 from 15:00 to 18:00 at the Sterling Ridge Park and Ride. This event encourages attendees to recycle their used pumpkins by turning them into compost, making it both a fun and eco-friendly activity. The park and ride is located at 8001 McBeth Way.
Veterans Day Celebrations
The weekend culminates in notable observances for Veterans Day. On November 11, the Woodlands Township, in partnership with the The Woodlands Fire Department, will host a Veterans Day Tribute from 16:00 to 17:00 at the Woodlands Central Fire Station, located at 9951 Grogans Mill Road. This patriotic ceremony will include a presentation of colors, musical performances, and remarks from local dignitaries. Additionally, attendees can contribute to a donation drop-off for goods to be shipped to active troops.
Another significant event on the same day is the annual concert and choir hosted by the Woodlands Christian Academy. Scheduled for 18:30, this student-led performance will honor veterans and feature contributions from children in grades 5 to 8, including posters and documentaries. The academy is located at 5800 Academy Way, and admission is free.
As The Woodlands community comes together to celebrate and honor veterans, residents and visitors alike are encouraged to participate in these diverse events, fostering a sense of unity and appreciation for those who have served.
