Despite a brief challenge from the Broncos, who cut the Rams’ lead to just one score in the third quarter, Acadiana responded with a powerful performance that showcased their resilience and skill.
After the Broncos narrowed the gap, junior quarterback Collin DiBetta quickly turned the tide. He returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown, reigniting his team and putting the game out of reach for Sam Houston. DiBetta had an extraordinary night, contributing with a passing touchdown, a receiving touchdown, and two interceptions, in addition to that pivotal kickoff return.
“I threw a pick the drive before and missed a block that led to their touchdown. You just have to respond,” DiBetta said. “That return gave us a spark, but it couldn’t have happened without my teammates. The blocks were perfect.”

Their quarterback made some nice reads on those looks. We’ve got to do a better job with our assignments, but holding that offense to 21 points, I’ll take it.”
As the game progressed, DiBetta continued to make significant contributions. He caught a touchdown pass from quarterback Ty Lamartina during a fourth-quarter drive that ultimately sealed the win. This drive also featured a crucial fourth-down pass from DiBetta to Gabriel Decuir, demonstrating the team’s offensive versatility.
Dotson praised DiBetta’s all-around performance, highlighting his ability to impact both offense and defense. “He’s our best corner and he’s a weapon on offense,” he said. “When he touches the ball on special teams, you can see why most people don’t kick to him. He’s just a football player.”
With this victory, the Wreckin’ Rams remain on track for a potential district title, setting the stage for a significant matchup against Carencro next week. Dotson noted the challenge of keeping the team focused, acknowledging the natural tendency to look ahead.
“There’s no way to sit here with a straight face and say we weren’t thinking about next week,” Dotson remarked. “We told the kids from the start of the year: our goals are still in front of us. District title, playoff run, it’s all still right there. We know what that game against Carencro means. No one has to explain to us what’s at stake. It is going to be a battle.”
