Alzheimer’s Research Update Set for Today with Key Guests

The Alzheimer’s & Dementia Research Update is scheduled for 2 p.m. today, October 22, 2025, at the Port Arthur Public Library, located at 4615 9th Ave. This event will feature key discussions on the latest advancements in Alzheimer’s research and treatment options. State Representative Christian Manuel (D-22) will serve as the special guest, highlighting the importance of community involvement in dementia research.

Hosted by Christina Crawford, a board member of the Alzheimer’s Association, the event aims to inform attendees about the organization’s advocacy efforts, particularly concerning Proposition 14. This proposition seeks to enhance funding for Alzheimer’s research in Texas, addressing a critical need as the number of affected individuals continues to rise.

Multiple Locations for Broader Impact

In addition to the Port Arthur location, the event will also take place at 9 a.m. at Stellar Bank, located on the third floor boardroom at 5999 Delaware St., Beaumont. This dual location strategy aims to reach a wider audience and encourage public participation in the fight against Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Participants will learn about how they can contribute to advancing dementia research in Texas, fostering a sense of community and collective action against these challenging conditions. The Alzheimer’s Association emphasizes the importance of public engagement in research efforts, particularly as it relates to legislative support.
