Washington Regional Medical Center Acquires and Rebrands Hospital

Washington Regional Medical Center has finalized an agreement to acquire the operations of Physicians’ Specialty Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas, effective December 1, 2023. Following this acquisition, the facility will be rebranded as Washington Regional Physicians’ Specialty Hospital.

Located at 3873 Parkview Drive, Physicians’ Specialty Hospital has been a part of the Northwest Health system since 2016. The 20-bed facility offers a range of medical services, including five operating rooms, a procedure room, an imaging suite, a laboratory, and emergency care services.

Strategic Investment in Healthcare

Larry Shackelford, President and CEO of Washington Regional, expressed confidence in the acquisition, stating, “Assuming operations of Physicians’ Specialty Hospital represents a strategic investment in the future of health care in Northwest Arkansas.” He emphasized that the addition of this campus would foster closer collaboration with local surgeons, enabling an expansion in the capacity for same-day and overnight surgical services.

The acquisition not only enhances Washington Regional’s operational capabilities but also aims to grow its surgical capacity. This growth will facilitate an increase in same-day surgical procedures and those requiring overnight hospitalization.
