Creative Cypher Appoints Cindy Beasley as First Female President

Creative Cypher, a prominent content collective based in Chicago, has announced the appointment of Cindy Beasley as its first female president. This significant leadership change comes in the wake of the company’s recent achievements, including two Emmy nominations and three Telly Awards, and aims to enhance the organization’s commitment to uplifting underrepresented voices in the entertainment industry.

In her new role, Beasley will oversee projects across all departments within the company. Troy Pryor, the founder of Creative Cypher, expressed his confidence in Beasley’s leadership abilities, stating, “Cindy will be an exceptional leader, and I’m beyond grateful for this entire team.” He emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions of all team members as the organization continues its growth.

Beasley, a lifelong creative from Chicago, has a decade-long career in television and media production. She has previously produced shows for notable figures such as former FOX Chicago News anchor Robin Robinson and Emmy Award-winning journalist Samantha Chatman. “I’ve been blessed to be a collaborative partner in something that the city and culture needs,” Beasley said. Her vision for Creative Cypher includes fostering the next generation of creatives and establishing the organization as Chicago’s premier entertainment ecosystem.

Under Beasley’s leadership, Creative Cypher aims to expand its flagship initiative, XL Fest, through a collaboration with TateMen Entertainment. This partnership is expected to solidify the festival’s impact and presence in Chicago. The festival has previously garnered significant media attention and hosted various industry luminaries, including Robert Townsend, Larenz Tate, Vivica Fox, and Malcolm D. Lee.

In addition to Beasley’s promotion, Creative Cypher has announced the appointments of Kyle Marshall as Chief Operations Officer and Starr Gadson as Chief Marketing Officer. Both Marshall and Gadson are long-time contributors to the organization, and their involvement is expected to bolster the company’s operations and marketing efforts.

Pryor remains the Chairman of Creative Cypher, maintaining an active role within various boards, including SAG-AFTRA Chicago and Definition Theater. He continues to expand his influence as an executive producer while also returning to his on-camera roots. Currently, he co-hosts a radio show named “Connect the Starrs” on Rejoice 102.3 FM alongside Gadson.

Reflecting on the organization’s evolution, Pryor remarked, “The goal has always been elevation and avoiding founder syndrome.” He highlighted the need for innovative growth within the entertainment sector, stating, “I launched Creative Cypher because I saw a lack of growth from other organizations, so it’s important that we practice what we preach.”

As Creative Cypher embarks on this new chapter with Beasley at the helm, the organization is poised to set higher standards in the entertainment industry, continuing its mission to elevate diverse voices and foster creativity in Chicago and beyond.
