Cullman Cheer Teams Triumph in State Championships, Eye National Glory

Cullman High School’s cheerleading teams have celebrated a remarkable season, achieving significant success at both state and regional competitions. The Junior Varsity (JV) and Varsity cheer programs, encompassing Traditional and Gameday divisions, have showcased their dedication and talent throughout the year.

At the AHSAA State Championship, held in December, Cullman Cheer secured two prestigious state titles. The Varsity Traditional team earned the title of 6A State Champions, while the JV Gameday team also claimed the 6A State Championship. This achievement solidifies Cullman High School’s reputation as one of Alabama’s premier cheer programs.

The season commenced at the Space Center Regional Competition, where all four teams made a strong impression. Varsity Traditional finished in second place, Varsity Gameday took third, JV Traditional also placed second, and JV Gameday secured third. This early momentum set a positive tone for the entire season.

Continuing their success, the teams participated in the North Super Regional Competition. Varsity Traditional emerged as 6A Super Regional Champions, while Varsity Gameday finished second, JV Traditional earned second place, and JV Gameday placed third. These results demonstrated the teams’ consistency and competitive spirit.

A defining moment occurred at the Magic City Regional, where Cullman Cheer achieved a clean sweep. All four teams placed first in their respective divisions, showcasing their rigorous preparation and commitment.

The season’s regional schedule concluded at the Smoky Mountain Regional Competition, where Varsity Traditional, Varsity Gameday, and JV Traditional all finished in first place. JV Gameday followed closely with a strong second-place finish.

Reflecting on the season, Kyle Kallhoff, Superintendent of Cullman City Schools, expressed pride in the athletes’ accomplishments. “This season has been extraordinary, and each athlete has played an important part in building these accomplishments,” he stated. “We are proud of their commitment, their drive, and the way they represent Cullman Cheer and our school system.”

With regional and state victories behind them, the teams now set their sights on the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship scheduled for late January. This prestigious event, held at the Walt Disney World Resort, represents the pinnacle of high school cheerleading competitions across the country.

Superintendent Kallhoff also took the opportunity to commend the coaching staff for their dedication. “On behalf of the school administration and Board of Education, we are grateful to the coaches who work with our athletes before and after school,” he remarked. “Thank you, coaches, for pushing our student-athletes hard and loving them just as much.”

Cullman City Schools congratulates all cheerleaders and coaches at Cullman High School on an outstanding season and wishes them continued success as they prepare for the national stage.
