On January 20, 2024, Haiden Harper, a future player for the Troy Trojans, reached a significant milestone by surpassing 2,000 career points while playing for Lee-Scott Academy. Harper, who committed to Troy University in November, has been a standout player this season, averaging 15.6 points, 3.2 assists, and 2.1 steals per game.
Harper achieved his 2,000th point in a match against Beulah, marking a noteworthy moment in his basketball career. Reflecting on this achievement, Harper expressed gratitude, stating, “First of all, I am grateful to God for blessing me with the ability to play and love this sport and hit this great milestone of 2,000 career points. I also want to thank my family for always being there and supporting me. I am thankful for all the coaches that have inspired me over the years and that have been great role models along the way.”
Recognition and Future Prospects
Last season, Harper earned Class 3A All-State honors and was named the Opelika-Auburn News Boys Basketball Small School Player of the Year. His impressive performance has drawn attention, positioning him as a key addition to the Trojan roster for the 2026-2027 basketball season.
Troy head coach Scott Cross praised Harper’s skills, stating, “Haiden is a dynamic, super skilled basketball player that can score with the very best of them. 2,000 points is an absolutely amazing accomplishment, but it doesn’t surprise me because Haiden is a big-time hooper. What makes this milestone even more special is that Haiden is an even better person than basketball player.”
As Harper continues to excel with Lee-Scott Academy, he aims to lead his team towards a state championship. His journey is closely watched by fans and coaches alike, who eagerly anticipate his contributions to the Troy Trojans in the coming years.
