UPDATE: A rare 1904 Cadillac Model B Touring is set to go under the hammer on November 1 at RM Sotheby’s auction during London Motor Week. This historic vehicle, over a century old, is attracting attention from classic car enthusiasts around the globe.
The Model B Touring, often referred to as the “Little Hercules,” features a modest 1.6-liter engine capable of producing 8.25 horsepower. Despite its low power output by today’s standards, this car represents a significant piece of automotive history. Its significance is heightened as Cadillac, founded in 1902, began production before implementing chassis numbers, identifying this model by its engine number, 3251.
Originally owned by Dr. J. W. Worcester of Middletown, New York, the car garnered media attention in its early days, with the Middletown Daily Times proclaiming, “Dr. Worcester buys an Automobile.” After changing hands multiple times, it underwent meticulous restoration in the mid-2000s by two dedicated members of the Cadillac Single Cylinder Register, Greg Tocket and Bob Newman. Their restoration efforts focused on returning the maroon wooden body to its original splendor.
In 2008, the Model B was shipped to the UK for mechanical recommissioning by Nigel Parrot and NP Veteran Engineering in East Sussex. The vehicle has seen some modern upgrades, including an electric starter, two side panniers, and a brass front light, enhancing its functionality.
This classic has become a staple in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, participating consistently since 2009 and set to be featured again in 2025. Its presence in this prestigious event underscores its enduring legacy and charm.
With an estimated auction price ranging from $160,000 to $185,000, this Model B Touring is poised to spark competitive bidding among collectors and car enthusiasts. The anticipation surrounding the auction is palpable, as enthusiasts eagerly await the final sale price.
