UPDATE: Boulder Opera Company is launching an exciting new season filled with captivating performances and community engagement, starting with a spectacular outdoor event at the Boulder Bandshell. Just announced, Opera in the Park will feature highlights from opera’s most iconic works on August 20, 2023, inviting audiences of all ages to experience the magic of live opera.
This season, Boulder Opera continues its mission to make opera accessible and engaging for everyone. Founded in 2012, the nonprofit has consistently broken down barriers, reaching out to underserved communities, particularly Latino and Hispanic residents. Their initiatives include free concerts and educational programs for thousands of students from Title I schools, ensuring that the beauty of opera is shared widely.
In addition to the outdoor celebration, Boulder Opera will present Donizetti’s heartwarming The Elixir of Love in November. Audiences can expect a delightful mix of humor and passion as families are invited to enjoy this timeless classic. Then, in April, the company will showcase Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier, a poignant opera exploring themes of love and transformation.
Boulder Opera’s commitment to the community goes beyond performances. This year, they aim to raise $12,000 to support local artists and expand bilingual programming. Their goal is to enhance access for the upcoming 2026 season, ensuring that the joy of opera reaches even more people.
As a nonprofit organization primarily funded by donations, Boulder Opera emphasizes the importance of community support. Their message is clear: “It only takes a little to make a big impact.”
Mark your calendars for Colorado Gives Day on December 5, 2023, when your contributions can help sustain these vibrant productions. For more information, visit coloradogives.org/organization/boulderopera or contact Boulder Opera at 303.731.2036.
