Commanders QB Jayden Daniels to Undergo MRI for Hamstring Injury
BREAKING: Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will undergo an MRI on Monday after suffering a hamstring injury during a critical moment in Washington’s 44-22 defeat against the Dallas Cowboys yesterday. The injury occurred in the third quarter when Daniels was sacked while attempting a pump-fake, leading to a fumble that significantly impacted the game.
Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed the MRI plans but refrained from detailing the injury’s severity, stating, “I just don’t want to say one way or another, and not give the accurate info on that.” Daniels, who was visibly in pain after the hit from rookie linebacker Shemar James, immediately reached for his leg and was escorted to the medical tent before leaving for the locker room as the team trailed 27-15.
Daniels’ performance prior to the injury included 12 completions on 22 attempts for 156 yards and one touchdown, showcasing his potential despite the absence of the team’s top three receivers. His replacement, Marcus Mariota, struggled upon entering, completing only 4 of 10 passes for 63 yards while throwing an interception that was returned for a touchdown, further widening the gap against Dallas.
The Commanders (3-4) are facing a critical juncture in their season, especially considering that Daniels previously missed two games earlier this year due to a left knee injury. “It’s tough. He’s been battling all year, and I know that can be very frustrating,” Mariota remarked, emphasizing the team’s reliance on Daniels.
As the Commanders prepare for further evaluations, the impact of Daniels’ potential absence looms large. In the five games he has played this season, he has thrown for 1,031 yards, with eight touchdowns and just one interception. The team’s playoff aspirations now rest heavily on his health and recovery.
Washington will look to regroup following this injury setback, with hopes of a swift recovery for Daniels. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely for updates on his condition and the team’s next steps as they navigate a challenging season ahead.
