Community Rallies, Raises Over $25,000 for Shooting Victims

BREAKING NEWS: The Stewartville community has mobilized to raise over $25,000 for families impacted by a tragic shooting that occurred on December 12, 2025. A GoFundMe campaign launched by the Stewartville Wrestling Booster Club has surpassed its initial goal of $22,000 as support continues to pour in from across the region.

The devastating incident unfolded early Friday morning around 5 a.m. in the parking lot of Stewartville High School, just hours before the school’s wrestling team was set to leave for a tournament in Grand Forks, North Dakota. In this shocking event, a student was critically injured, and an adult male was found dead at the scene, presumably from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

In a heartfelt statement posted on Facebook, the Stewartville Wrestling Booster Club expressed their sorrow:

“On behalf of the Stewartville Wrestling Booster Club, we are deeply saddened by the tragic event that occurred in our community. Our hearts are with the victims, their families, friends, coaches, and everyone affected.”

The club emphasized the importance of community support, urging everyone to come together during this difficult time.

Authorities, including Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson, have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, stating, “We don’t know anything that led up to this at all, at this point.” A press conference is scheduled for Monday, where more details are expected to be revealed.

In addition to the online fundraising efforts, donations can be made in person at any Eagle Rock Bank branch, referencing the “Stewartville Wrestling Benefit Account.” Local businesses are also stepping up, with Full Court Custom Apparel Inc. committing to donate 100% of proceeds from shirt sales to support the victims’ families.

The wrestling community has shown overwhelming solidarity, with neighboring programs such as Dover-Eyota, Plainview-Elgin-Millville, Century, and Mayo contributing hundreds of dollars to the cause. Notably, the Clash National Wrestling Duals organization has also donated $1,000 to assist the affected families.

As the community continues to rally around those impacted, the urgent need for support remains clear. The funds raised will directly benefit the families involved, providing essential financial assistance as they navigate this tragedy.
