Conservatives Challenge MSNBC Report on Prosecutor’s Schiff Doubts

BREAKING: Conservatives are pushing back against an MSNBC report claiming Maryland U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes has doubts about prosecuting Senator Adam Schiff. The report, released Thursday, suggests Hayes informed superiors that the case against Schiff is not robust enough to pursue. This news is igniting fierce debate in the conservative media landscape.

The implications are significant. Former President Donald Trump has long targeted Schiff, labeling him corrupt following his role in Trump’s impeachment trial in 2020. With the stakes high, conservative commentators are rallying in defense of Hayes, asserting her commitment to the ongoing investigation into Schiff.

Maryland U.S. Attorney Kelly Hayes did not say that she didn’t believe the mortgage fraud case against Adam Schiff was strong enough to pursue,” tweeted Susan Crabtree, a reporter for RealClearPolitics. She emphasized Hayes’s previous success, referencing her indictment of former National Security Advisor John Bolton.

Alongside Crabtree, right-wing figures like Jack Posobiec and Alex Lorusso quickly dismissed the MSNBC claims. “This is false,” Lorusso asserted, reinforcing that the investigation into Schiff remains active.

Reports indicate that Hayes had a critical meeting earlier this week with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche regarding the investigation. Following this, she was reportedly directed to gather more evidence. However, Blanche has since denied the meeting occurred, stating on X, “Excited to hear more about this made-up meeting! Also, unequivocally: U.S. Attorney Hayes has told me no such thing.”

The investigation into Schiff and New York Attorney General Letitia James centers on allegations of mortgage fraud. James has already been indicted and entered a plea of not guilty. As these allegations swirl, some legal analysts suggest Hayes could be pressured into resigning like other prosecutors who have chosen not to pursue charges against Trump’s political adversaries.

“You’ve seen it yourself in the papers,” legal analyst Michael Scotto told The Baltimore Sun. “There’s other times when people have either felt they were forced out and so they resigned, or they were out and out fired.” He referenced the significant changes in the James investigation, where a new prosecutor was installed to pursue charges deemed unwarranted by others.

The political landscape remains charged. Trump reiterated his disdain for Schiff, stating, “Adam Schiff is one of the lowest forms of scum I’ve ever dealt with in politics,” during a recent event. The tension surrounding this case is palpable, with significant political implications for both parties.

Hayes was appointed interim U.S. attorney in March 2023 and officially sworn in June 2023. As the situation develops, questions about her role and the future of the investigation loom large. The White House has directed inquiries to the Department of Justice, which has yet to respond.

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story. With the political stakes so high, the implications of these allegations and the actions of the U.S. Attorney’s office will be closely watched.
