Dinners For Kids Honors Sandy Insalaco at 7th Annual Fall Gathering

URGENT UPDATE: Dinners For Kids is set to host its 7th Annual “Thanks for Giving!” Fall Gathering on Wednesday, November 5, at the JCC in Kingston. The event will honor local business leader and philanthropist Sandy Insalaco Sr., who will receive the Distinguished Advocate for Childhood Nutrition Award for his unwavering commitment to combating childhood hunger.

With a legacy of community service and innovation, Insalaco has played a vital role in supporting numerous nonprofit initiatives, including Dinners For Kids. His dedication has ensured that the organization delivers over 75,000 freshly prepared meals each year to more than 240 children in the Wilkes-Barre, West Side, and Dallas areas.

“Our community thrives because of individuals like Sandy,” stated David Tevet, founder and executive director of Dinners For Kids. “His quiet compassion and leadership have shaped this community for generations.”

The evening will also pay tribute to Charles “Charlie” Dancheck, who will receive the Jim Haggerty Service Award for his more than a decade of dedicated volunteerism with Dinners For Kids. Guests can expect an inspiring program featuring Jennifer Sordoni, Interim CEO of the United Way of Greater Hazleton, as the guest speaker. The event will be hosted by Christopher Bohinski, the popular Host and Producer of PA Live! on WBRE.

Dinners For Kids operates on a unique all-volunteer model, ensuring that 100% of all donations go directly to meal preparation, with no funds allocated to staff or facilities. This commitment to transparency and efficiency allows the organization to maximize its impact on local families facing food insecurity.

The “Thanks for Giving!” Fall Gathering will kick off with a cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and the awards presentation. This inspiring evening aims to foster community connections and express gratitude for those who dedicate their time to improving the lives of children.
