UPDATE: The Discovery Shoppe League, a non-profit in Chico, just announced a significant donation of $15,000 to Shasta Elementary School. This generous funding will help send fifth-grade students on a life-changing trip to Shady Creek environmental camp, a four-day adventure aimed at enriching their education.
On October 29, 2023, volunteer Shelley Tedford presented the check to Parker Bush, a teacher at Shasta Elementary, alongside students Emma Barnum and Nick Bonacich. This donation is part of the League’s commitment to supporting local education and community initiatives, showcasing the impact of volunteer-driven efforts.
The funds will specifically cover the costs for Shasta Elementary’s fifth graders to participate in the environmental camp, where they will engage in hands-on learning about nature and sustainability. Tedford, who sponsored this initiative, expressed her excitement about the opportunity for students to experience this adventure.
