Girls Exploring Tomorrow’s Technology Conference Launches Nov. 1
URGENT UPDATE: The highly anticipated Girls Exploring Tomorrow’s Technology Conference is set to take place on Saturday, November 1, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Upper Providence Township, Montgomery County. This free conference aims to connect hundreds of young girls with hands-on STEM experiences and inspiring industry role models.
The event, hosted by the Innovative Technology Action Group under the Chester County Economic Development Council, marks a significant milestone, celebrating 25 years of empowering girls to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
“Earlier this year, the World Economic Forum reported that women constitute only 28 percent of the global STEM workforce. GETT provides a vital opportunity to introduce girls to these fields in an engaging and enjoyable way,” stated Daisy Adams, GETT chairwoman and Senior Director of Digital Operations at Bentley Systems.
This year’s conference promises over 100 hands-on STEM activities, spanning areas such as computer science, engineering, coding, robotics, healthcare, environmental science, culinary arts, and broadcasting. “Through GETT and our ITAG program, we’re dismantling barriers by connecting girls with female leaders in STEM across various sectors,” said Marianne Stack, ITAG Project Director.
With roots tracing back to its inception in 2001 as a one-day event focused on IT, GETT has expanded its reach to include students from across Southeastern Pennsylvania, inspiring a new generation of female innovators.
The atmosphere at GETT will be electric, as attendees engage with successful women and explore what’s possible within STEM fields. This conference is more than an event; it’s a movement aimed at transforming perspectives and igniting passion for STEM careers among young girls.
