Glen Mills Man Sentenced to Probation for Workplace Threats
BREAKING: A Chester man was sentenced to 90 days of probation after threatening to “spray up” his workplace during an incident last August. Davar Brown, 29, pleaded to harassment as a summary offense in a plea deal confirmed on Monday by Common Pleas Court Judge Margaret Amoroso.
The threats, which came to light during an altercation at ServPro on Lacrue Avenue in Glen Mills, raised alarm among employees and prompted immediate action from law enforcement. According to court documents, the incident occurred on August 27, 2023, when Brown expressed dissatisfaction with his scheduled shift, leading to a heated argument with co-workers.
Following the confrontation, Brown was escorted out of the building but allegedly threatened to “spray up” the business, claiming he was the only one “packing” at the workplace. He specifically threatened to shoot two co-workers, which echoes broader concerns about workplace violence. This incident occurred months after a tragic shooting at a laundry in Chester, where a disgruntled employee killed two and injured three others.
Authorities confirmed that Brown had previous charges related to making terroristic threats, aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person. He previously held a permit for a concealed weapon, which has since been revoked. Brown was arrested on August 31, with bail set at 10% of $50,000, which he posted shortly after.
The plea agreement allowed for the dismissal of the more serious terroristic threats charge, but it came with strict conditions. Brown is prohibited from contacting specific individuals and is barred from returning to the ServPro location. Additionally, he is required to attend anger management classes.
Neither Brown nor his defense attorney, Clinton Johnson, provided comments following the sentencing. The case underscores the urgent need for workplace safety and the serious implications of threats made in a professional setting.
Experts and community members alike are left reeling from the potential consequences of such actions, emphasizing the importance of addressing grievances without resorting to violence.
As this story develops, more details will emerge regarding the impact on the workplace and the measures being taken to ensure employee safety in the wake of this incident. Stay tuned for updates.
