Hillsborough County’s Food Pantry Events Launch for Holidays

UPDATE: Hillsborough County’s Healthy Living Program has just announced a series of urgent food pantry events in collaboration with Feeding Tampa Bay to combat food insecurity this holiday season. Starting next Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the Lee Davis Healthy Living Center, and continuing on Friday, November 17, 2023, at both the Plant City and SouthShore Healthy Living Centers, these events aim to bring joy and nourishment to families in need.

As the festive season unfolds, many residents are struggling with food insecurity. These food pantry events are designed to alleviate some of that burden, providing essential items such as fresh produce, meats, and pantry staples. The Healthy Living Program emphasizes that this initiative is not just about temporary aid; it’s about fostering long-term health and wellness in the community.

“We are committed to making good nutrition accessible to all,” said a spokesperson for the Healthy Living Program. Anyone aged 18 or over is eligible to participate, regardless of income level, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a festive meal this season.

The program will not only distribute food packages monthly but will also offer additional support during the holiday months of November and December. Residents can find all details regarding upcoming distributions on the Healthy Living Program’s website.

In addition to food, the program is expanding its offerings. This holiday season, residents will have free access to exercise rooms and group fitness classes, along with nutrition consultations and monthly classes at four Healthy Living Centers throughout the county.

Residents seeking assistance can simply drop by or call the Healthy Living Program for more information. The network of support extends beyond these events, with resources available from organizations such as ECHO, the United Food Bank of Plant City, and the St. Anne Catholic Church Food Pantry, all providing vital food and clothing assistance across Hillsborough County.

As the holiday season approaches, these initiatives are crucial for ensuring that no one in the community has to face the festivities with an empty plate. Hillsborough County is determined to make this a season of giving and support for all its residents.
