Limerick Fire Department Launches New EMS Crew for Community

UPDATE: As of October 28, Limerick Township has officially announced the deployment of a new Freedom Valley Medical Rescue crew from the Limerick Fire Department’s Linfield Station. This critical enhancement to emergency medical services means Limerick will now have two 9-1-1 designated ambulance crews operating within its borders, significantly bolstering community safety.

This initiative marks a significant milestone for Limerick Township, as it aims to improve health and safety services for residents. The new crew will join the existing EMS team stationed at the Limerick Fire Department on Ridge Pike, ensuring quicker response times for emergencies. Township officials have long prioritized this expansion as part of a broader public safety strategy.

The decision follows years of strategic planning by the Board of Supervisors, aiming to strengthen all emergency services in Limerick, including the dedicated efforts of the Limerick Police Department and the all-volunteer Limerick Fire Department. Remarkably, this support strategy has helped maintain the Limerick Fire Department’s volunteer status, saving taxpayers approximately $5 million annually.

In a collaborative effort, Limerick Township has partnered with the Freedom Valley Medical Rescue organization, which has successfully expanded its emergency services to better serve the community. Officials have emphasized that services from other regional EMS agencies will also continue, further enriching the emergency response network in Limerick.

State Representative Joe Ciresi and State Senator Tracy Pennycuick played vital roles in this initiative, securing state grant funding that has enabled the purchase of new ambulances and essential equipment. Their contributions reflect a strong commitment to enhancing public safety amid growing community needs.
