Man Arrested After Ramming Car Into White House Security Gate
UPDATE: A man has been arrested after crashing his vehicle into a security gate near the White House late Tuesday night. The incident took place at 10:37 p.m. on October 24, 2023, at the security checkpoint located at 17th and E St NW, adjacent to the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.
The U.S. Secret Service quickly responded to the situation, initiating a temporary lockdown in the area as a precaution. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported, and the vehicle involved was assessed and deemed safe shortly after the incident.
According to a statement from the Secret Service, the driver, whose identity remains unknown, was apprehended at the scene. “The individual was arrested & the vehicle was assessed and deemed safe,” the agency confirmed. “Our investigation into the cause of this collision is ongoing.”
