Medina’s Candlelight Walk Ends in Joyful “Carols by Candlelight”

UPDATE: Medina’s vibrant 41st annual Candlelight Walk culminated in the enchanting “Carols by Candlelight” program on November 23, drawing 125 guests to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for a night of traditional Christmas music. The event, filled with candlelight and festive decorations, created a magical atmosphere for attendees.

The evening featured the esteemed Chancel Choir and talented guest musicians, all accompanied by Alan Higbee on the majestic pipe organ. The Rev. Kelly Aughenbaugh, pastor of the church, enthusiastically welcomed guests and invited them to join in singing eight beloved carols, including “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “Silent Night.”

Guests received a program with the lyrics, encouraging a united sing-along that filled the church with holiday spirit. The choir, consisting of 12 dedicated members, led the audience through these cherished tunes. Adding to the night’s allure were solo performances by soprano Kimberly States, who delivered a moving rendition of “Gesu Bambino,” and baritone Ken Rutski, who captivated with “O Holy Night.”

The musical evening also showcased talented musicians: Barb Fiegler on flute, Elaine Stone at the piano, and Sara Hart on cello, who accompanied select carols, enhancing the overall experience.

As the night drew to a close, guests enjoyed cookies and hot cocoa in the gallery, fostering a warm and inviting atmosphere for mingling with choir members and fellow attendees. The event not only marked the end of the Candlelight Walk but also brought the community together in celebration.
