Security footage reveals a masked man arriving at the scene, preparing himself before entering the facility. “The suspect came, parked his car, and you can see that he prepared himself,” said Patricia’s father, Frank Villa. “He was armed and walked in, committing this senseless act of violence.”
Patricia’s family grew concerned when they could not reach her, prompting them to drive to the storage facility. They discovered her lying inside, having been shot five times. Patricia, described by friends and family as a dedicated employee and loving partner, was remembered during an emotional vigil attended by hundreds on Saturday.
“She was a non-violent person… why did this have to happen to her?” Frank Villa expressed during the vigil, highlighting the deep loss felt by those who knew her. “She brought light to everybody,” said coworker Deann Pancheri.
Authorities have confirmed that Nava, a 66-year-old customer at the facility, was undergoing a mental health crisis at the time of the shooting. Police utilized facial recognition technology to identify him and place him under arrest. A search of his home uncovered multiple firearms, including automatic weapons and handguns.
