URGENT UPDATE: The West Broad Street YMCA in Savannah, Georgia, has just unveiled a new digital learning center, providing critical resources for the community. This initiative, part of a larger effort by AT&T, aims to enhance connectivity and learning opportunities for residents at no cost.

Just announced today, the center is one of 25 nonprofits nationwide to receive support from AT&T in 2025, highlighting the urgent need for accessible digital resources. The new lab features 15 computers and a classroom-like setting, ensuring that community members have the tools they need to thrive.

Gary Sanchez, Regional Director of External Affairs for AT&T, emphasized the significance of this investment, stating, “It’s an opportunity to invest in the community to help provide computers and digital resources for students, for seniors, for job seekers.” This initiative addresses the growing demand for digital literacy and access in the area.

Local resident Joseph Bruen, who grew up near the YMCA, expressed his enthusiasm: “I’m certainly glad I’m able to be here to see this happen because it was needed, and I know the community is going to appreciate it.” His sentiments reflect the community’s urgent desire for such resources.

The digital learning center will be available Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM, allowing everyone to access vital information for research and education. Users are encouraged to reserve the space for their needs. County Commissioner Tanya Milton remarked, “To have the ability to search the web and to learn, just open yourself up, I think it’s just amazing.”

This center marks the first connected learning hub in Savannah and the eighth in Georgia. It is part of a broader goal to establish 100 connecting learning centers across the nation by 2027. The urgency of this initiative cannot be overstated, as it aims to bridge the digital divide and improve access to technology for individuals and families in need.

As the center opens its doors, residents are encouraged to take advantage of this significant resource. Stay tuned for updates as this vital project unfolds and continues to impact the Savannah community.
