One Dead in Central Las Vegas Apartment Fire; Community Unites

UPDATE: A devastating apartment fire in central Las Vegas has claimed one life and sparked a multi-agency response. The fire broke out on Saturday evening, July 15, 2023, around 7 p.m. on the 1400 block of E Vegas Valley Drive.

Firefighters from the Clark County Fire Department arrived to find flames erupting from a second-floor unit. Despite the rapid deployment of 39 personnel and aggressive firefighting tactics, crews declared knockdown just 10 minutes later, at 7:10 p.m.. Tragically, they discovered an individual inside the apartment who was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have confirmed that the area surrounding the apartment complex has been closed in both directions from Casa Vegas Drive to La Canada Street, as investigations continue into the cause of the fire.

No other injuries have been reported, but the fire has displaced four residents and their dog. The American Red Cross is currently providing assistance to those affected, reinforcing community support in this tragic time.

Structural damages from the incident are estimated at around $50,000, according to officials. As investigations proceed, the community is urged to come together and support those impacted by this unfortunate event.
